Science Week June 2021
Please take the time to look at the photos of our amazing whole school Science Week. Each day focused on a different aspect of Science: Biology, Physics, Chemistry and Conservation and we also had a visit from scientist Tom Holloway as well as a Key Stage 2 First Aid afternoon where the children in Owl and Fox Class were taught how to carry out basic CPR. We ran a whole school biscuit dunking investigation in search of the best biscuit to dunk in our tea and a mouldy bread investigation where we could see which class had the cleanest hands by rubbing them over a piece of bread and making observations over time to see which pieces of bread grew mould and which ones didn’t! We designed and threw paper airplanes, in a home-learning challenge, to see who could make a plane that flew the furthest (slightly hampered by the rain!) and had an ‘All Things Science’ dress up day where we came to school dressed in costumes ranging from mad scientists to black holes! We had such a wonderful week of activities, learning, practising new skills, using new vocabulary and comparing our investigations. We all gave Science a big thumbs up at the end of the week and are already looking forward to the next one.
